An integer is a positive or negative whole number.
Any parenthesis that are in front or behind of a number, that means that the second minus sign is a negative. Just to let you know.
If you were to have the problem 3-(-4)
That would equal -1.
Or -3+6 If the positive is bigger that the negative in a + or - problem, it would be positive. The answer would be 3
First you have to make the negative and the minus sign to a positive and a plus sign. Because in this kind of math, there is no such thing as minus signs.
In a problem like -4x(-3) it would be a positive because a negative times a negative is a positive, and a positive times or divided by a negative is a negative, and obviously a positive times or divided by a positive is a positive. So all you pretty much have to is 4x3 which is 12. So it's positive 12 because a negative times a negative is a positive.

How to solve equations
First is the fundimental principals of algebra (steps to solving equations)
1) First to solve the equation is to ask yourself 'What is happening to my variable?'
2)Do the inverse operation (opposite) to both sides of the equation
Initial Equation / Problem
x + 23
=
45
Subtract 23 from each side
x + 23 - 23
=
45 - 23
Result / Answer
x
=
22
3) Write the variable = answer
Steps for checking an equation
1) Re-write ex. 3+x=7
2)Plug in your answer ex. 3+4=7
3)Simplify ex. 7=7
4) Variable=answer ex.x=4

Factors and Greatest Commen Factor (GCF)
To begin, a factor is a number that can divide into a number exept for 1 and itself.
For example, here are the factors of 10 and 20
20:1,2,4 5,10,20
10:1,2 5,10
Then to get to my next idea, the GCF for 10 and 20 is 10 because in my example above, 10 is in each number.
The least commen factors of 10 and 20 is 2 because that is the number that shows up in each number. Now, i was asking myself "why wouldn't it be 1?" The answer to that is: 1 can be multiplied or divided into every number, so it would be obvious that everty single LCF would be 1. All the time.
Another explanation is one of two or more quantities that divides a given quantity without a remainder. For example, 2 and 3 are factors of 6; a and b are factors of ab.

Exponets
Whenever you have a large number you need to multiply, it makes it easier to read by using exponets.
Examples:
3 to the 2nd power = 3 x 3
3 to the 5th power = 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3
For a bigger example,8 to the 9th power, 8 is called the base and 9 is called the exponent or index.
The number 123,000,000,000 in scientific notation is written as : 1.23 times 10 to the 11th power
Since 1958, radar has been used to measure distances directly by timing a radio signal bounced off another planet. The currently accepted value is
1 AU = 1.49597870×10 to the 8th power km
To convert this to scientific notation, first we write "1.24". But this is not the same number. However, (1.24)(100) = 124, and 100 = 102. Then, in scientific notation, 124 is written as 1.24 × 102.
Examples:
3 to the 2nd power = 3 x 3
3 to the 5th power = 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3
